Coyotes in Rain

Perhaps it is fur versus feathers.

Maybe it's simple coincidence.

I have never seen ravens out in rain.

And only rarely have I observed coyotes in snow in the Ortiz Mountains.

But during the ferocious downpours of the Summer Monsoon Season, when normally parched ravines and arroyos suddenly become raging channels of white water, I see soaking coyotes loping through the junipers.

I wonder if rodents are about, flushed from burrows and nests, confused and easy pickings.

Or is it simply occasion for a warm shower, however much soggy misery seems evident?
